In summary:

  • Tech Advisor reports that Garmin Connect now offers meal tracking through its paid Connect+ subscription service, priced at £6.99/$6.99 monthly.
  • The new nutrition features allow users to log food items, view detailed reports, and receive personalized dietary recommendations based on their metrics.
  • Available on models like Venu 4 and Venu X1, the service integrates calorie tracking with existing fitness data for comprehensive health monitoring.

If you use a Garmin smartwatch, it will now be easier to keep track of both your training and your nutritional intake.

During the CES 2026 trade show, Garmin revealed that it will now be possible to track meals in the Garmin Connect app. The app will be able to track both how many calories you have burned and how much you have eaten during the day.

This will apply to models such as the recent Garmin Venu 4 and Garmin Venu X1.

“Our Nutrition feature is designed for all users, no matter where they are in their health journey. Whether they’re just starting to build healthy habits, wanting to maintain a healthy lifestyle, or looking to perform at their absolute best,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing.

Garmin Connect will now be able to recommend how many calories, as well as fat, protein and carbohydrates, you should consume based on your height, weight, gender and the average activity measured by your Garmin watch.

You will also be able to add food items and your own meals, as well as receive daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports on how well you are sticking to your recommendations. You will also be able to view all nutritional information on your Garmin watch.

Unfortunately, the new nutrition features are locked behind a paywall, so if you want access to them, you’ll need to pay for a Garmin Connect+ subscription at £6.99/$6.99 per month. However, new customers can try it free for 30 days, or 14 days if you’ve previously tried it.

The subscription, similar to Fitbit Premium, also includes features such as Active Intelligence insights powered by AI, a performance dashboard, Garmin Trails, 3D maps and Garmin Connect Rundown.
