President Donald Trump on Wednesday offered up a somewhat positive take on dictators after delivering a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
But Trump insisted the reviews were good, and not what he normally hears from the media.
“Usually they say, ‘He’s a horrible dictator-type person,’ I’m a dictator,” Trump said. “But sometimes you need a dictator. But they didn’t say that in this case.”
Trump last year responded to the “No Kings” protests by insisting that he’s not a king.
“I’m not a king,” he said in October. “I work my ass off to make our country great, that’s all it is. I’m not a king at all.”
But in 2023, when critics warned that he would be a dictator if he returned to office, Trump said he would only be a dictator on day one.
His latest comments about “sometimes” needing dictators, however, had critics alarmed.
