One person was shot Tuesday night on U.S. 285 in Jefferson County in what investigators believe stemmed from a road rage incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

The shooting happened at about 7 p.m. Tuesday on southbound U.S. 285 near Sourdough Drive, about 9 miles southwest of Morrison, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

That section of highway was closed for hours Tuesday night amid the investigation, but reopened shortly before midnight, sheriff’s officials said.

Sheriff’s officials did not say whether a suspect was arrested or any other injuries were reported.

Additional information on the shooting and the road rage incident leading up to it was not immediately available Wednesday.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
