Flight reductions ordered by the Federal Aviation Administration will proceed impacting Denver Worldwide Airport via the weekend, with greater than 60 flights scheduled for Sunday already canceled.
Airport employees – together with air visitors controllers, technicians, security inspectors and safety screeners – are among the many important federal workers compelled to work with out pay because the federal authorities shutdown started Oct. 1, resulting in a spike in absences and security issues.
The FAA on Friday ordered airlines to cut 4% of flights at main airports, together with DIA, and can enhance the cuts to 10% by Nov. 14.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on Friday stated the cuts may enhance to fifteen% or 20% of flights if the shutdown continues.
There have been 64 DIA flights canceled on Saturday, based on the flight tracking website FlightAware.
As of Saturday afternoon, 66 DIA flights scheduled for Sunday and 38 flights scheduled for Monday had been already canceled.
