Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Monday called out Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) over his hawkish stance on the war on Iran, citing a recent survey to warn President Donald Trump’s ongoing conflict is having a disastrous impact on American farmers.
“One day in the future, parents will tell their children that it was because of Trump’s war on Iran that caused farms to fail bc farmers couldn’t afford fertilizers and the cost of farming was too high,” Greene wrote on X, quoting a social media post about the disconcerting poll.
“And instead of world peace Lindsey Graham pounded his fist and said ‘drop the nukes and give Trump $400 million to build the ballroom!’” Greene continued, referring to the senator’s long-held pro-war stance and newfound focus on the stalled White House project.
The poll she referenced, which was conducted earlier this month by the American Farm Bureau Federation, shows 70% of U.S. farmworkers said they are unable to afford the amount of fertilizer they need, while costs rise amid the war. The survey polled more than 5,700 farmers across the U.S.
The AFBF noted that the rising cost of fertilizer has become an affordability issue for farmers across the country and that diesel prices have risen by 46% since February, when Trump launched his war. It also showed nearly 6 in 10 farmers have seen their financial situation grow worse since last year.
As Greene also referenced, Trump infamously demolished the East Wing in October to make way for a ballroom, only for a federal judge to rule last month that the effort requires congressional approval — and order the Trump administration to suspend construction on the project.
Graham is among the many GOP lawmakers pushing Congress to authorize construction after Saturday’s shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Trump did so himself during a press conference in the hours after the shooting.

Graham argued during a press conference Monday that Trump’s new ballroom is not a “vanity project” and that it’s “necessary” to have a “meeting space that is secured on the White House grounds,” announcing he will introduce legislation that would have taxpayers pay for it. Trump has repeatedly said the construction would be funded by private donations, not taxpayers.
Many voters oppose the project. The Iran war is similarly unpopular among the American public, while Graham has called its taxpayer burden the “best money ever spent.”
Trump recently divulged that the U.S. military has been building “a massive complex” beneath the ballroom — admitting that it was “supposed to be a secret” and was only made public “because of a stupid lawsuit that was filed.”
Greene infamously split with Trump, who called her a “traitor” for demanding the release of files on late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, last year. She and numerous former Trump allies have since called for his removal from office, citing the president’s genocidal rhetoric against Iran.
