Fox News contributor Kellyanne Conway is raising eyebrows for a criticism of former President Joe Biden that some say could just as easily apply to President Donald Trump.
Conway, who was Trump’s campaign manager in 2016 and served in the White House during his first term, was asked about former first lady Jill Biden admitting that her husband had been “slowing down” as he got older, especially given that the “very intense job” of the presidency “ages you quickly.”
“This happens to many of us, right?” Conway said. “People that we love fall into decline, physically, mentally. That’s OK. That’s life. What happens is you have to let them live out their lives quietly in peace and dignity with the family. Enjoy the grandchildren. You don’t give the nuclear codes and the presidency of the United States.”
Conway’s complaint about Biden comes as questions swirl about the health of her former boss.
Trump has had three “annual” physicals in 13 months and multiple dental visits this year, and medical experts say the White House has been less than forthcoming about his health.
Trump has been seemingly dozing off in public during the day, has gone off on rambling tangents, and has obsessed over his planned White House ballroom ― at one point getting up during a meeting of oil industry executives so he could stare out the window at the construction site.
In addition, the White House said last year that the president is suffering from chronic venous insufficiency, a common and often benign condition that involves poor blood flow from the legs to the heart and causes swelling in the ankles, aka “cankles.”
He also has visible bruises on his hands that he tries to cover up with some type of cosmetic. The White House said that bruising is due to frequent handshaking and daily aspirin use ― the latter of which has led to questions from medical experts.
Trump has also bragged about taking three cognitive tests, which has some wondering why he’s taken those tests so frequently.
The president insists that he “aced” those tests, and the White House has said repeatedly that the physicals show the president to be in good health.
But critics on X said Conway’s comments sounded like they could be aimed not just at the former occupant of the Oval Office … but the current one as well:
