A two-vehicle crash that closed a part of Interstate 70 Thursday, paralyzing vacation site visitors for hours, occurred when the motive force of a 2021 Ram 3000 pickup truck driving west weaved onto the shoulder and struck the rear of a parked semi-truck, the Colorado State Patrol stated.
The crash was at mile marker 218 close to the Eisenhower Tunnel simply after 1 p.m. The Ram, which was hauling a trailer, spun and rolled as soon as earlier than bursting into flames, CSP Trooper Sherri Mendez stated in an e-mail Friday.
The motive force of the Ram truck, a 40-year-old man, and a canine using with him died. Mendez stated the semi driver, a 62-year-old man from Virginia, wasn’t injured.
The interstate was closed for hours in each instructions, between exit 205 at Dillon and Silverthorne and exit 216 at Loveland Cross.
Mendez stated she didn’t know the place the pickup driver was from. Extra details about him might be launched by the Summit County coroner.
The state patrol’s vehicular crimes unit is investigating what triggered the crash, Mendez stated.
