CNN’s Kate Bolduan on Thursday appeared genuinely stunned by new polling showing just how much support President Donald Trump appears to have lost among young men, the demographic that played a big part in his 2024 election win and also makes up a large share of the UFC fanbase.
During a discussion with CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten about Trump’s planned UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, Enten noted how Trump “actually won” among men aged 18 to 30, by 1 percentage point, in the 2024 vote.
But Enten had an “oh my goodness gracious” moment when revealing how Trump’s net approval rating with the same demo is currently at -55 points.
“Oh gosh,” Bolduan said. “I was literally about to ask you if that was a typo.”
Enten responded: “No, that is not a typo. Me and my crack crew spend many hours on those slides, and we can tell you that is not a typo.”
“That is a 56-point move against the president of the United States among young men who helped put him over the top in the election, and now he is very much struggling with them,” he said.
Enten then suggested the polling could help explain Trump’s decision to host a major UFC event at the White House: “Maybe that’s part of the reason why he wants to put on an event like this, to try and connect with some of them.”
