Caitlyn Jenner, an Olympic gold medal winner and an outspoken transgender ally to President Donald Trump, is facing pushback after opening up earlier this month about how the president’s anti-trans executive order had negatively impacted her, but did not get a response after asking him for help.
“I don’t blame President Trump. I love him, but for a lot of people, this is a huge issue, you know, and so that’s kind of where I’m at right now,” Jenner said on “Tomi Lahren is Fearless.” “I have not talked to the president. I wrote [to] him. I was in Mar-a-Lago two months ago, wrote a letter explaining all of this to him, how it’s affecting me and a lot of other people.”
Jenner told Lahren that she has yet to hear back from the president.
“He’s kind of busy right now. My gender marker is not big on the issue. OK,” Jenner continued. “So I get that, and I’m not blaming him whatsoever. I love the guy and I love what he’s doing, but I’m trying to figure out now, what is the next step to try to figure this out?”
Jenner’s plea to Trump comes more than a year after the president signed an executive order on his first day back in office, which directed the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security to only issue passports and visas with either the male or female indicators.
The former Olympic star told Lahren that she recently renewed her passport, but when she got it back, the “gender marker, M, screws everything up,” adding that she tried to fix it on her own, but it would not change.
She said, “This is a safety factor,” claiming that she cannot travel internationally and that “even to vote, now, you need proper identification — and I don’t have that.”
In the days that followed Jenner’s interview with Lahren, users online have slammed the Trump supporter for speaking out about her dilemma.
Multiple users online cited the phrase, “I never thought leopards would eat MY face,” often used to mock MAGA voters who face the repercussions of the president’s policies.
“The View” co-host Ana Navarro dedicated an Instagram post to Jenner, telling her, “Boo-hoo. Cry me a fucking river.”
“didn’t she literally vote for him,” popular X page Buffys wrote.
“She voted for that, not even modern. Out of tackiness,” another X user wrote.
