Rocky Mountain Nationwide Park rangers discovered the physique of a 66-year-old Fort Collins lady who was reported overdue from a hike this week.
Rangers had been notified Tuesday evening that the lady, whose title wasn’t launched, had not returned from a day hike as deliberate. They discovered her physique close to Chasm Lake early Wednesday morning on the south facet of the lake in a scree slope.
Park officers stated she apparently fell within the rocky space. Chasm Lake will not be far beneath Lengthy’s Peak, the park’s highest level. The lake’s altitude is 11,760 ft.
Rocky Mountain Nationwide Park Search and Rescue workforce members had been aided within the restoration by the Mesa Verde Interagency Helitak crew. The lady’s physique was flown through a protracted line operation to the Higher Beaver Meadows helipad, the place she was transferred to the Boulder County Coroner’s workplace.
The coroner’s workplace, which was closed Friday, will launch the lady’s title after her household is notified.
