Democratic lawmakers have blasted the Pentagon’s decision to award a $24 million contract to a robotics startup tied to Eric Trump, the son of President Donald Trump.
The company, Foundation Future Industries, where Eric Trump serves as chief strategy adviser, secured the deal to test humanoid robots, a move critics said raises serious ethics concerns and has prompted accusations that the Trump family continues to profit from the president’s time in office.
Eric Trump touted the contract, which comes amid his father’s ongoing war on Iran, during an appearance on Fox Business’ “Mornings With Maria” with Maria Bartiromo on Thursday.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) bluntly asked in response on X, the Elon Musk-owned platform: “Is the Pentagon just a cash machine for Trump’s kids now?”
She added, “This looks like corruption in plain sight.”
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) wrote: “You can’t make this stuff up. The most corrupt first family of all time.”
Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) chimed in: “For your family the war in Iran means paying more. For Trump’s family the war in Iran means making more.”
Rep. Shontel Brown (D-Ohio) wrote: “The Trump Family gets rich off of Trump’s war. Working people get higher prices.”
And Rep. Darren Soto (D-Fla.) accused Eric Trump of “bragging about corruption openly.”
He added, “That’s where the Trump family is at now, at this point. A political reckoning will be coming soon. It’s only a matter of time.”
