Smartwatches have long been more than just digital watches. They accompany us during exercise, display notifications, assist with navigation and help us keep track of health data such as heart rate and sleep patterns. Models that combine long battery life with comprehensive fitness and smart features are particularly in demand.
The new Xiaomi Watch S5 is now available on the market. The smartwatch currently costs from £149.99 on Amazon instead of the recommended retail price of £179.99. That represents a saving of £30, or 17%.
The offer applies to the Black and Silver models, but you can save even more on the Jungle Green version with a green strap made of fluorocarbon rubber and braided nylon fabric. This version of the Watch S5 is just £169.99, down from £209.99, representing almost 20% off.
The limited-time deal ends on 10 June, so be quick.
What the Xiaomi Watch S5 has to offer
Xiaomi has equipped its new smartwatch with a 1.48-inch AMOLED display with a brightness of up to 2,500 cd/m². This is designed to ensure the display remains clearly legible even in direct sunlight. The 46-millimetre case is made of stainless steel and combines a classic round watch design with modern smartwatch features. Xiaomi also highlights the improved screen-to-body ratio and the fine minute markers around the edge of the display.
A key advantage in everyday use is the battery life. The built-in 815 mAh battery is said to last up to 21 days with light use and up to 14 days with normal use. For those who don’t fancy daily or weekly charging, this is a smartwatch that is said to last significantly longer than many rival models.

For health features, Xiaomi relies on a new sensor module with four LEDs and four photodiodes. The watch monitors heart rate and sleep around the clock. According to the manufacturer, the detection of sleep onset and wake-up times has been improved, as has the accuracy of analysing individual sleep phases. The Watch S5 is therefore aimed at users who wish to track their activity and health data regularly.
Athletes benefit from more than 150 supported sports modes for indoor and outdoor activities. The integrated dual-band GPS is of particular interest to runners, hikers and cyclists. This is complemented by offline maps and one-click return navigation, which can be helpful when active in unfamiliar areas.
The operating system used is Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0. The smartwatch supports Android and iOS devices and offers Bluetooth connectivity as well as NFC. Via the so-called Xiaomi Smart Hub, compatible Xiaomi devices such as smartphones, tablets, earphones or smart home products can be controlled directly via the watch. Additional features include gesture control, two-button screenshots and the ability to take smartphone photos via the watch.
The Xiaomi Watch S5 is water-resistant to 50 metres (5ATM certified), making it suitable for use in the rain, in the swimming pool or for water sports, in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
Why this offer is worth it
The Xiaomi Watch S5 has only just hit the market and is already 19% off. Anyone who was waiting for the new generation anyway can save money right from the launch without having to wait several months for the first price drops.
As the smartwatch is still very new, there are currently no user reviews or long-term experiences available. It is therefore not possible to assess it based on reviews at this stage. We will have a full review soon, but we have only just started testing it since it’s so new.

If you’d like to pay a little less, you can check out the black and silver colour variants, which are already available for £149.99. If you can do without the special Jungle Green strap, you’ll get the same watch for a lower price. Even those who place great importance on having numerous long-term reviews should bear in mind that the model has only recently become available and practical experience is still lacking.
However, for users looking for a new smartwatch with a large AMOLED display, long battery life, GPS navigation and extensive fitness features, this current offer is one of the more interesting early-bird discounts available immediately after the market launch.
