Rozonda Thomas, best known as Chilli of the iconic ’90s girl group TLC, is distancing herself from Donald Trump and the MAGA movement after she reportedly donated to the president’s political action committees back in 2024.
Chilli gave nearly $800 to Trump’s PACs amid his reelection campaign, MeidasTouch Network first reported on Saturday.
She also reportedly gave $63 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee and $7 to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) that same year.
JS found FEC donations linked to the singer’s name and a Georgia address tied to her that match MeidasTouch Network’s findings.
The report arrives weeks after Chilli faced backlash on popular internet forums for allegedly resharing an Instagram post promoting a wild conspiracy theory claiming that former first lady Michelle Obama is transgender.
Chilli follows a number of MAGA figures on social media, including Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), Tomi Lahren and Donald Trump Jr., the latter of whom entertained the Obama theory during his father’s 2024 campaign.
The singer, in a social media post on Saturday, claimed she’s “not MAGA” and doesn’t support “any of the policies that are causing great harm to the American people.”
“I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans,” wrote Chilli in an apparent reference to the donations.
“Two things I care deeply about as my dad is a veteran and everyone knows I love children. I have learned a valuable lesson and ask for grace as I navigate this.”
In a video message attached to the post, she stressed her “utmost respect and admiration” for Michelle Obama.
“I would never say or do anything that is disrespectful to her or to any woman,” said Chilli of the former first lady, adding that she accidentally reshared the Obama post on her Instagram page.
She went on to claim she gave to both of Barack Obama’s campaigns and voted for him twice.

Back in 2017, Chilli faced backlash on social media for remarking that “all lives matter,” a phrase cooked up in response to the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality and racial injustice.
She later clarified that she was intending to be “inclusive of everyone” and didn’t mean to “undervalue” the BLM movement or suggest that police brutality against Black people was acceptable.
