Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey is taking it again to the start.
The whiskey maker, which was based in 2004 and has usually been billed as the primary new distillery to open in Colorado since Prohibition, plans to debut a brand new tasting room, Stranahan’s Whiskey Lodge, someday this winter in Aspen, in line with the corporate.
This “marks our first outpost past our Denver distillery and tasting room, and it’s being designed to be the best surroundings for followers, already made and new, to expertise our award-winning American single malt whiskies – and to say thanks to those that helped begin all of it,” the corporate, which is now owned by beverage big Proximo Spirits, added.
Stranahan’s was co-founded by longtime Aspen resident, millionaire, physicist and entrepreneur George Stranahan and former volunteer Aspen firefighter Jess Graber. The story goes that Graber was a part of a group that responded to a fireplace at Stranahan’s barn, and that the 2 bought to know one another after that and hatched a plan to begin their very own whiskey distillery.
They did simply that in 2004, at 2405 Blake St., in Denver, earlier than shopping for their very own constructing and transferring the operation to their current location at 200 S. Kalamath St. New Jersey-based Proximo purchased the corporate in 2010; Stranahan himself handed away in 2021.
Particulars on the brand new location are slim, although the Aspen Daily News reports the bar will take over the former Aspen Pie Shop, at 307 S. Mill St., downtown. Stranahan’s is at present hiring a head chef to steer the creation of “alpine-inspired bites” from a kitchen onsite.
Stranahan’s will be part of one other soon-to-open bar and restaurant on the MOLLIE Aspen lodge, which partnered with Gin & Luck, homeowners of Loss of life & Co., to create the meals and beverage program.
