A black bear broke into a house in southeastern Colorado and clawed a girl’s leg. Wildlife officers are trying to find the bear.
The incident occurred early Friday morning when a resident close to Boncarbo, west of Trinidad, was woke up by a crashing sound and her canine growling, based on a Colorado Parks and Wildlife news release. The 82-year-old lady opened the doorways to her mudroom and a small, cinnamon-colored bear, a yearling weighing lower than 100 kilos, scrambled across the room, climbed a shelf and left the home, tearing by means of and open window display screen.
The injured lady declined medical consideration, based on the CPW.
“Underneath CPW coverage, any bear that causes damage to a human is assessed as a harmful bear and, if captured, should be humanely euthanized,” the discharge stated.
CPW Officer Bob Holder was notified of the incident Friday and commenced a search within the space the place a lure was set in case the bear returns.

“Human well being and security all the time stay our high precedence in any incident like this, no matter how minor the accidents are,” stated Mike Brown, CPW’s space wildlife supervisor for the area, within the launch. “CPW officers are doing every little thing we are able to to find this bear. Fortunately, the sufferer’s accidents include very minor scratches.”
That is the second bear assault within the Trinidad space in two weeks. The CPW doesn’t imagine the 2 incidents are associated. The incident is the fourth reported bear assault in Colorado in 2023.
