A 12-year-old boy died Saturday after he was hit by a distracted driver in an Aurora crosswalk, police stated.
The boy was using his scooter throughout East Iliff Avenue close to South Wheel Park Circle, south of Horseshoe Park, when he was hit by a 19-year-old driver, in response to a news release from the Aurora Police Division.
Police stated the 12-year-old was in a marked crosswalk and had activated the crossing sign, which stops all site visitors on Iliff. The 19-year-old driver wasn’t paying consideration and didn’t cease for the sign, police stated.
Paramedics took the boy to the hospital, the place he later died from his accidents, police said in an 8:15 p.m. update.
The 19-year-old driver was not publicly recognized, however Aurora officers count on costs to be filed towards the driving force “within the close to future.”
