The security situation for international travelers has degraded over the last 24 hours. In an unprecedented overnight wave, the U.S. State Department has issued a staggering 19 new travel alerts, spanning active conflict evacuations in the Middle East to massive demonstration warnings across Europe and Australia.
If you are currently abroad, or planning international travel, the rules of travel have changed. Between sudden border fees, urgent warnings to evacuate hotels, and newly activated extraction flights, here is the unfiltered breakdown of exactly what you need to know to stay safe this week.

The Extraction Zone: Active Evacuations & Shelter-In-Place
The Middle East has officially shifted into an active extraction phase. U.S. Embassies are organizing limited assistance flights and laying out strict overland escape routes for trapped citizens.
The live Traveler Safety Index for Isreal has bottomed out at 28 showing travelers do not feel safe in the country with ‘active conflict’ being the number one reported reason. The U.S. State Department has Israel at Level 3 “Reconsider Travel”.
UAE, Qatar & Israel: Extraction Flights Activated
The State Department is actively manifesting Americans for departure flights out of the region. Assistance flights to Europe are currently operating out of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, while Qatar Airways continues limited operations. Travelers in Israel and Qatar must complete the government’s Crisis Intake Form immediately.
The live Traveler Safety Index for Qatar is currently at 40 showing travelers do not feel safe in the country at this time.

Saudi Arabia & Jordan: Hotels Are Active Targets If you are sheltering in Saudi Arabia or Jordan, avoid all hotels, shopping malls, and common gathering points. Embassies have explicitly identified these locations as active targets. If you are fleeing Jordan, use Queen Alia airport or overland routes to Saudi Arabia, which remain open 24 hours (unlike the restricted Israel/West Bank borders).

Kuwait & Iran: Border Restrictions Commercial flights out of Kuwait are suspended due to airspace threats. Travelers must evacuate overland to Saudi Arabia, but you must obtain an exit permit via the Sahel app before reaching the border. Meanwhile, travelers fleeing Iran via land borders to Armenia or Turkey are being hit with unannounced exit fees—carry excess physical cash to avoid being turned back.

Elevated Threat Zones & Regional Spillover
The geopolitical shockwaves are triggering severe security downgrades in neighboring regions.
Azerbaijan & Iraq The State Department has officially elevated Azerbaijan to a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory due to the expanding conflict. In Iraq, the heavily fortified International Zone is officially closed as violent riots erupt at the July 14th Bridge and Tahrir Square; citizens are advised to depart overland to Jordan or Turkey immediately.
Oman & Bahrain Bahrain has instituted a strict, fully active ban on all public gatherings. In Oman, the Embassy has banned all travel to Musandam and Masirah Island, and strictly prohibited any recreational boating greater than 25 kilometers offshore.
