Donald Trump on Thursday reignited speculation about serving beyond January 2029, when his second term in office is due to end.
“RECORD NUMBERS ALL OVER THE PLACE! SHOULD I TRY FOR A FOURTH TERM?”
Trump has repeatedly teased the unconstitutional idea of serving a third term.
It is unclear what Trump exactly meant by a “fourth” term.
The remark could reference his false claim that he won the 2020 election against Joe Biden, so this term is essentially his “third,” or it could suggest a bid to serve two additional terms.
Either way, the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution explicitly prohibits it.
