The 2026 awards season is in full swing, meaning you can expect classic Hollywood glamour to prevail on the red carpet for the next few weeks. But that does not have to mean a total fashion snooze fest. In fact, it can mean quite the opposite: The best dressed stars of the week proved that it is possible to strike the balance between classic and unconventional—choosing looks that have a sense of timelessness, yet a risk-taking attitude, too.
Take Rihanna, who was spotted out and about in New York City this weekend (where her man A$AP Rocky was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live). The star emerged for the album release party wearing a chic Saint Laurent slip dress, but added a more utilitarian cropped bomber jacket overtop. In L.A., The Beauty star Rebecca Hall also paired a fringed, belted corset top from Courrèges with sleek black pants. It was all about juxtaposition this week, and styling unlikely items together. Fun!
Statement outerwear also had a moment on the red carpets this week—showcasing how a great coat can be a total outfit. In Las Vegas, Teyana Taylor (who never misses) wore an embossed leather trench from Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann—with the perfect oxblood shades to finish it off. In London, Sophie Turner looked to a buttoned-up Khaite coat, wearing it like a dress. There was creative styling going on in Hollywood this week—a spirit we hope continues on at forthcoming awards shows like the Grammys and Oscars.
