This week, many of us are out-of-office for the holidays—and yet Hollywood continues to march along. The best dressed stars on the red carpets were busier than ever, and while they did not fully lean into the Christmas spirit—sequins, velvets, red, gold, and green—they still embraced merry accents that infused their looks with a seasonal touch.
Take Michelle Obama, who continued doing press for her fashion book, The Look. The former first lady donned a red tweed number from Chanel designer Matthieu Blazy. (Not the first time she has worn the hot designer debut.) That fringed top would make a statement and turn heads at any holiday party. Ditto for Amanda Seyfried, who attended the premiere of The Housemaid in L.A. wearing a red sequinned Monse number. Both festive and fashion-forward.
Great coats and outerwear felt perfect for the winter season, too. In New York, Stranger Things co-stars Maya Hawke and Natalia Dyer presented two such styling approaches. Dyer opted for an edgy black McQueen leather ensemble, complete with a curved button closure, while Hawke shimmied on an animal-print Prada coat. Both looks were not what you think of when it comes to holiday style, per se, but felt right in line with the cozied-up-chic vibe of December dressing.
