Seth Meyers on Wednesday tore into Donald Trump and his allies for ripping up the rules-based international order in favor of what he described as a “much less elegant philosophy.”
The “Late Night” host pointed to Trump world’s defense of the U.S. military operation that seized Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and its response to the White House’s renewed threats about taking control of Greenland, as examples.
Meyers aired a montage of prominent conservatives — including White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller and right-wing pundit Ben Shapiro — arguing there is “no such thing as international law,” that global politics is actually governed by the “law of the jungle” and that America is the “dominant predator force.”
Meyers, though, was decidedly unimpressed.
“I’m sorry, but these guys are the lamest fucking dorks on the planet,” he said.
“The only place they should be talking like that is on their ‘Call of Duty’ headsets,” he added.
Later, Meyers asked whether the “grown-ass men” involved felt “at least a little embarrassed to say words like, ‘We are the lion, we are the predator’ out loud on national television.”
