Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) slammed the Trump administration after it promoted its initiatives aimed at farmers with the URL “OnlyFarms.gov,” an allusion to a social media platform best known for content from sex workers and adult creators.
“Your tax dollars are paying for the USDA to parody a porn site,” Massie wrote, referring to the U.K.-based social media platform OnlyFans.
“They should delete the tweet and the URL,” he added.
The URL “OnlyFarms.gov” directs users to a page on the White House website about agricultural initiatives.
President Donald Trump spoke Friday to an audience of farmers from the White House’s Truman Balcony, promising to cut costs for struggling farmers and “quickly get rid of the horrible chains placed on tractor suppliers.” (He also got distracted by a gold tractor he admired.)
The White House was met with some backlash after rolling out its OnlyFarms promotion on X.
“Can you arrest Epstein’s co-conspirators instead of riffing on a porn site?” Massie asked in follow-up that ratioed the White House post.
Though OnlyFans’ CEO Kelly Blair has previously insisted the website, described as an 18+ subscription platform, is not a porn site, it has become well known for its adult content.
Other X users noted that farmers have struggled during the president’s second term under Trump’s massive tariffs, as well as high oil prices fueled caused by his war in Iran.
“I guess one could have a sense of humor about the Trump administration riffing on a porn site to highlight the taxpayer bailout for farmers as a result of Trump’s tariffs,” The Bulwark’s Sarah Longwell wrote. “But then you remember there’s a major Trump/DOJ coverup of a pedophile ring, and it’s less funny.”
Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for the transport of fertilizer ingredients, has also raised costs for farmers.
Several GOP lawmakers also raised concerns last year after Trump proposed to import beef from Argentina to lower prices for consumers at the cost of American cattle ranchers.
Some prominent conservatives backed Massie’s criticism of the promotion, including former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who called the post “gross.”
“Thomas Massie is right which is why his comment ratioed the WH gross post comparing farmers to porn stars,” Greene said. “This administration was elected by conservatives who are opposed to porn, rapists, and pedophiles yet protects Epstein class pedos and rapists.”
Right-wing podcaster Candace Owens also slammed the promotion.
“‘The White House honors deceased OnlyFans CEO and top AIPAC donor by using their branding on an official government website’ or something,” Owens wrote. “The Wii Sports war edits didn’t cut it, so they decided to reference a porn site instead.”
