Colorado has landed its first several additions out of the transfer portal.
On Saturday night, four players committed to the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders: receiver Kam Perry (Miami-Ohio), running back Damian Henderson II (Sacramento State), and defensive ends Lamont Lester Jr. (Monmouth) and Yamil Talib (Charlotte).
Listed by Miami at 5-foot-9, 154 pounds, Perry had a breakout season this year as a redshirt junior for the RedHawks, earning first-team all-conference honors in the Mid-American Conference.
Perry caught 43 passes for 976 yards and six touchdowns in helping Miami (7-7) to a spot in the MAC title game and a trip to the Arizona Bowl. Perry averaged 22.7 yards per catch, which ranked third nationally. Of the 214 players in the FBS with at least 40 catches, he was the only one to average at least 20 yards per catch.
Perry had four 100-yard games this season, including seven catches for 101 yards in the MAC championship game, a 23-13 loss to Western Michigan. In 2024, Perry caught 10 passes for 166 yards. He played his first two seasons at Indiana, redshirting in 2022 and finishing the 2023 season with three catches for 22 yards.
Henderson played this season at Sacramento State under then-head coach Brennan Marion, the new offensive coordinator for the Buffs. He was second on the team with 565 rushing yards, on 91 carries (6.2 per carry), while scoring five touchdowns.
Listed at 6-2, 210 pounds, Henderson played his first two seasons of college football at Colorado State, carrying the ball a total of 21 times for 91 yards. He comes to CU with two years to play.
The 6-2, 230-pound Lester tied for 10th at the FCS level in sacks as a redshirt freshman this season, with 9.5 – four more than any other freshman. He also had 37 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 10 QB hurries and two forced fumbles, earning first-team All-CAA honors.
The only freshman on the All-CAA first team, Lester was named the conference defensive rookie of the year. Lester redshirted at Monmouth in 2024 after earning all-state honors at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.
Talib played in 12 games this year for Charlotte, recording 28 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception and five QB hurries.
The 6-2, 240-pound Talib started two games and was the highest-graded player on Charlotte’s defense, per Pro Football Focus.
A 2024 graduate of Berkner (Texas) High School, Talib began his college career as a walk-on at Oklahoma State. He appeared in one game and redshirted. The nephew of former Denver Broncos star Aqib Talib, he was District 7-6A defensive player of the year as a senior in high school.
