OnePlus has announced that it’s working on a new Turbo line of phones with a gaming focus, and potentially epic battery life.
Company President Li Jie has taken to Chinese social network Weibo to announce the new OnePlus Turbo smartphone series. According to Li, these Turbo phones will “inherit the flagship’s powerful performance genes” (this is via machine translation), so we’re evidently talking about a completely different proposition to the mid-range Nord line.
Indeed, Li mentions gaming performance three times during this relatively brief post, albeit with certain qualifiers such as “in its price range” and “in its class”.
While we might not be looking at a direct rival to the likes of the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro gaming phone (or whatever its follow-up is), then, we could expect a competitor for the RedMagic 11 Pro, which offers top-level performance at a more mid-market price.

OnePlus Turbo-powered battery life
It won’t only be the performance that’ll be high-grade, either. Li mentioned “the strongest battery life in its class”.
Arguably the defining attribute of the recently launched OnePlus 15 turned out to be its battery life, with a 7,300mAh cell and excellent optimisation, resulting in astounding levels of stamina.
However, established tipster Smart Pikachu recently claimed that the OnePlus Turbo series will go much bigger, potentially cracking the 9,000mAh threshold. This is getting ridiculous now.
With the suggestion that this OnePlus Turbo series is “about to launch”, we shouldn’t have long to wait to find out the specifics.
Next up for OnePlus, however, will be the launch of the OnePlus 15R on 17 December (tomorrow). Stay tuned for more on this affordable flagship alternative.
