A person who stabbed his estranged spouse and her boyfriend to dying in Denver has been sentenced to 80 years in jail.
Matthew Madden, 38, was convicted Friday of the September 2021 deaths of Katherine “Katy” Pivoda and Jennifer Gelvin, This is reported by the Denver Public Prosecution Service. Pivoda was estranged from Madden on the time. Each ladies died on the scene from a number of stab wounds.
The ladies have been stabbed within the yard of Pivoda’s residence within the 2200 block of South Marion Avenue. Officers responding to the assault discovered Madden in the home lined in blood and holding a knife.
“This mindless act of violence affected not one however two households and the group as an entire,” Deputy District Lawyer Effie Antonopoulos mentioned in a press launch. “We imagine Jennifer was attempting to assist Katy when she was killed by Matthew Madden.”
In April, Madden pleaded responsible to 2 counts of second-degree manslaughter, based on the prosecution. On Friday, Denver District Court docket Choose Nikea Bland sentenced Madden to 40 years in jail for the dying of every sufferer with consecutive phrases.
