Lafayette 148’s Emily Smith returned to her garden upstate for inspiration this season. There were bold hand-painted floral prints in easy separates and A-line dresses, and bulbous shapes in colorblocked cotton dresses. It was Smith’s most straightforward collection yet—a summer collection with breezy cotton and crochet details, raffia trims, and workwear-inspired linens—but it was missing the more playful and experimental side that adds a bit of an edge to her clothes. The leather pieces, as always, were a highlight, as were the chocolate brown denim safari jacket and matching jeans.
