A person arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement died in a New York jail on Thursday.
Officers told Newsday that the 42-year-old man’s loss of life in a Nassau County jail is at the moment beneath investigation.
“There’s an ongoing investigation, which will probably be thorough and clear to find out the reason for loss of life,” Nassau County Sheriff Anthony LaRocco stated in an announcement to Newsday. “Nassau County takes significantly its obligation to deal with each prisoner humanely.”
The person, who has not been publicly recognized, died roughly 18 hours after arriving on the jail, News 12 Long Island reported. The New York State Lawyer Common’s Workplace has additionally launched an investigation into the loss of life.
