Parts of Interstate 70 were closed along Vail Pass in Colorado’s mountains on Sunday for “safety concerns,” according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

As of 1 p.m. Sunday, westbound I-70 was closed at Vail Pass Summit and eastbound I-70 was closed from exit 180 for east Vail to exit 190 at Vail Pass Summit, according to state transportation officials.

Information about the safety concerns that shut down the mountain pass and when the road is expected to reopen was not available on Sunday.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
