Honor has announced the launch of its Magic8 Lite smartphone in the United Kingdom, bringing a device focused on battery longevity and physical durability to the mid-range market. The handset features a 7500mAh silicon-carbon battery that the company claims can deliver up to three days of use between charges, alongside certifications for drop resistance and water protection.
The announcement, made on 8th December 2025, positions the Magic8 Lite as a practical choice for users who prioritise battery life and build quality over flagship-level processing power. The device will be available through a broad range of UK retailers and mobile networks.
Battery Technology and Charging

The headline feature of the Magic8 Lite is its 7500mAh silicon-carbon battery. Silicon-carbon battery technology allows for higher energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion cells, meaning manufacturers can pack more capacity into the same physical space. This chemistry has been gradually making its way into smartphones over the past couple of years as the technology has matured.
Honor claims the battery can deliver up to 52.5 hours of music streaming, 23.8 hours of online video playback, 16.8 hours of gaming, or 12.3 hours of video calling on a single charge. These figures, as with all manufacturer battery claims, represent idealised testing conditions, but they do suggest the device should comfortably handle two full days of moderate use for most people.
The company also states the battery should retain more than 80% of its original capacity after six years of use, which would be a notable improvement over typical smartphone battery degradation rates. The battery is rated to operate in temperatures ranging from -30 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius.
When you do need to charge, the Magic8 Lite supports 66W wired charging. Honor has also included reverse charging functionality at 7.5W, allowing the phone to act as a power bank for other devices. An ultra-power saving mode can maintain continuous calls for up to 60 minutes when the battery drops to 2%.
Durability and Water Resistance

Honor is marketing the Magic8 Lite as one of the most durable smartphones currently available, and the device has accumulated several certifications to support this claim.
The phone has received SGS 5-Star Comprehensive Reliability Certification, which Honor says means it can withstand drops from heights of up to 2.5 metres onto certain surfaces. The company has equipped the device with what it calls Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop Technology, incorporating non-Newtonian fluid materials and deep tempered glass to absorb impact energy.
For water resistance, the Magic8 Lite carries an IP69K rating. This is actually a more demanding standard than the IP68 rating found on most premium smartphones. While IP68 typically covers submersion in still water, IP69K is designed for protection against high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. Honor claims the device can handle rinsing, splashing, dirty water, and brief exposure to hot water for up to 10 seconds.
The phone has also been tested to function after being submerged in water at a depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. Software features including AI Heavy Rain Touch and AI Glove Touch aim to maintain touchscreen responsiveness in wet conditions or when wearing gloves.
Camera System
The Magic8 Lite features a 108-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.67-inch sensor. Higher megapixel counts do not automatically translate to better image quality, but they do provide more flexibility for cropping and can capture additional detail in good lighting conditions.
The camera includes both optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS) to reduce blur from hand movement. Honor has integrated several AI-powered editing features including AI Eraser for removing unwanted objects, AI Cutout for isolating subjects, and AI Outpainting for extending image boundaries.
The device supports 4K video recording and includes what Honor calls a moving photo collage function for creating dynamic images. File transfer to iOS devices is supported through Honor Connection.
Display Specifications
The Magic8 Lite sports a 6.79-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1.5K, which typically refers to around 2376 x 1080 pixels. The screen supports 1.07 billion colours and features 1.3mm bezels, resulting in a 94.6% screen-to-body ratio.
The display refreshes at up to 120Hz for smoother scrolling and animations, and Honor claims a peak HDR brightness of 6000 nits. This figure likely represents a small portion of the screen displaying highlights in HDR content rather than full-screen brightness, but it should still ensure good visibility in bright outdoor conditions.
Eye comfort features include 3840Hz PWM dimming, which reduces the flickering that can cause eye strain at lower brightness levels. Additional features include Circadian Night Display for reducing blue light in the evening, AI Defocus Display, Dynamic Dimming, and hardware-level low blue light certification.
Performance and Storage
The Magic8 Lite is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor. Honor claims this chip delivers a 29% improvement in GPU performance and 11% improvement in CPU performance compared to the previous generation.
The device comes with 8GB of physical RAM, supplemented by Honor’s RAM Turbo Technology that adds 8GB of virtual RAM by using storage space. This brings the effective RAM to 16GB, which should help with keeping more applications active in the background.
Storage is set at 512GB, which provides substantial space for photos, videos, and applications without needing to manage storage constantly.
Availability and Colours
The Honor Magic8 Lite will be available in the UK through multiple retail channels including EE, Virgin Media O2, Vodafone, Three, Tesco Mobile, Currys, Argos, Very, Amazon, AO, and John Lewis. The device comes in three colour options: Forest Green, Midnight Black, and Reddish Brown.
Pricing was not disclosed in the announcement. Given Honor’s positioning of the Magic8 Lite as an accessible option, prospective buyers should expect mid-range pricing when the device appears at retailers.
