MS NOW host Michael Steele tore into President Donald Trump for flipping off a heckler during a visit to a Ford plant on Tuesday.
“We all know we have a very ― in my estimation ― a very underdeveloped man sitting in the White House,” Steele said. “That was just a punkish move.”
As Trump toured a Ford facility in Dearborn, Michigan, on Tuesday, someone could be heard yelling “pedophile protector,” a reference to the president trying to block the release of files related to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was once his friend.
Trump appeared to mouth “fuck you” and extended his middle finger at the heckler.
Steele, a former chair of the Republican National Committee who has for years been a staunch Trump critic, slammed the president for his behavior.
“I don’t know who he thinks he was impressing,” he said. “Put your big boy pants on, Mr. President. The country is a big country, and we have opinions. We have opinions about you, we have opinions about your actions.”
The White House defended Trump’s gesture, calling the heckler a “lunatic” who was “wildly screaming expletives in a complete fit of rage.”
Steele wasn’t having it.
“The fact that the White House response was ‘a lunatic was wildly screaming expletives in a complete fit of rage,’ their over-dramatization of stuff is another bit of crap we have to put up with,” he said.
