Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a middle-aged man who interjected himself into Denver’s downtown No Kings demonstration, shouted expletives and a slur, then fell in a road fracas and suffered a severe damage.
The assault occurred after the older man declared: “‘Sure Trump,’” in response to a Denver Police report.
A video circulating on social media confirmed the older man, carrying a blue New York Giants emblem shirt, gesturing at and deriding demonstrators on Saturday afternoon as they rallied close to Denver’s Union Station. The person ran and fell in opposition to pavement on his face, the video reveals.
He acquired up and ran, once more, then was tripped and fell onto the road by a curb in opposition to his head. Bleeding, he acquired up once more and, with pals, ran, and clashed with demonstrators. Some demonstrators tried to assist him, pointing to his head suggesting he wanted medical care as blood coated the left facet of his face.
Denver police on Monday confirmed they arrested Jose Cardenas after monitoring him from Wynkoop Avenue, the place the assault occurred at about 2:30 p.m., to North Lincoln Avenue close to the intersection with 14th Avenue, “the place Cardenas tried to run from officers.” Witnesses recognized Cardenas because the one who assaulted the counter demonstrator, the police assertion of possible trigger for arrest mentioned. “Cardenas was transported to the Denver Jail and charged with aggravated assault.”
Police didn’t establish the sufferer. The report mentioned he suffered “a severe laceration to his head.”
