Denver residents might want to wait one other week to do away with their compost after citywide furloughs derail the pickup schedule, metropolis officers mentioned.
Metropolis crews is not going to acquire compost through the week of Aug. 25 as workers work a shortened week and take a furlough day on Friday, in response to a news release from the city’s Solid Waste Management Division.
All collections, together with composting, will resume the week of Sept. 1. The schedule will likely be delayed by someday due to Labor Day, metropolis officers mentioned within the launch.
Denver officers introduced plans in Could to put off staff, institute a hiring freeze and require unpaid furloughs. Every metropolis worker, aside from uniformed legislation enforcement, hearth and 911 personnel, will likely be required to take at the least two unpaid furlough days.
For Denver’s Strong Waste Administration Division, that second furlough day will come on Nov. 28. Compost assortment will likely be canceled once more throughout that week, metropolis officers mentioned.
