Search and rescue crews are conducting an enormous operation to search out two males who went elk searching final week in a distant forested space south of Alamosa and haven’t been heard from since.
Deputies with the Conejos County Sheriff’s Workplace responded to the Rio De Los Pinos trailhead on Friday on a report that the hunters — 25-year-old Andrew Porter of Asheville, N.C., and 25-year-old Ian Stasko of Salt Lake Metropolis — hadn’t checked in with family members at an agreed-upon time.
The boys have been elk searching within the San Juan Wilderness Space west of Trujillo Meadows Reservoir, not removed from the New Mexico state line, authorities stated.
Deputies discovered the boys’s car on the trailhead and noticed tenting gear and backpacks contained in the car. Given dangerous climate shifting into the realm, authorities launched a “large” seek for the boys, together with air operations, floor groups, canine groups, drone treams and native volunteers.
