Last month, I sweltered in the UK’s intense heatwave, unable to cool myself or my house down effectively.
This week, despite temperatures surging across most of the country, I’m feeling remarkably chilled (literally) about the whole situation.
The only difference? Dreo’s superb misting tower fan, which is helping me work, sleep and everything in between.
It launched earlier this month at a very reasonable £199.99/$199.99, but it’s already down to £169.99/$169.98 on Amazon’s Prime Day sale. That’s a tidy 15% discount, and it probably goes without saying that it’s the lowest ever price.
The US deal requires a Prime subscription to access it, and is set to expire at 11:59pm on 26 June, or sooner if stock runs out. In the UK, it’s not a Prime-exclusive deal, though with the current weather, you might want to act fast.
What the Dreo misting tower fan has to offer
The Dreo TurboCool Misting Fan 765S, to give it its full name, takes a two-pronged approach to keeping you cool.
The first is as a standard tower fan, with twelve levels of intensity and a wide range of oscillation. It never gets particularly loud, but at lower levels in Sleep mode, the motor is barely audible (just 20dB), making it perfect for getting some proper rest.
But its killer feature, and a key advantage compared to most fans, is the misting. Using the refillable water tank at the bottom, the 765S releases streams of fine mist from either side of the fan grilles. When it hits the warm air, it instantly evaporates via a process called evaporative cooling.

Dreo claims the fan can reduce ambient temperature by up to 6°C. I can’t verify that claim specifically, but I will say that I felt much cooler while sitting next to it. I even felt slightly cold in my home office, despite it being 30°C outside.
Even if you want to run the misting continuously, Dreo says that it’ll last for over 24 hours on lower modes. And as a mains-operated unit, you don’t have to worry about battery life. It also has an intuitive companion app (featuring detailed scheduling options) and is fully compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice-activated control.

However, I want to emphasise what the 765S isn’t – a dehumidifier. While you can set a target humidity, that’s simply to ensure that the level of water vapour in the air doesn’t exceed a specific amount. So, make sure you use it in a well-ventilated area, or you’ll end up turning your bedroom into a steam room (speaking from experience).
Why it’s a good deal
With the current UK heatwave taking hold and more hot weather expected throughout the summer, a basic fan might not cut it.
However, dedicated air conditioning units can be pricey, tricky to install and often expensive to run. By contrast, as The Guardian reports, the Dreo costs just 2p per hour to run – an absolute bargain.
While it is a significant upfront investment, it is a great price for such an effective product, and your future self will probably thank you.
