The OnePlus Nord range has long been one of the go-to recommendations when talking about the latest mid-range phones, and the OnePlus Nord 5 was no exception.

With 2026 in full swing, however, we’re all wondering how OnePlus might look to elevate things even further in a successor, and if early rumours are anything to go by, we could be in for something special with the OnePlus Nord 6.

Even though it was something of a downgrade in the design department (the OnePlus Nord 4 was far more exciting there), the OnePlus Nord 5 is still one of the best mid-range smartphones, and with a tempting price tag of just £399/€449, it’s quite surprising just how much you can get for your money.

The Nord 5 packs the ever-so stylish OxygenOS overlay, a super-fast 80W charging speed and a 50Mp selfie camera that even manages to put some of the best phones to shame. It’s one heck of a package, and shows just how far the mid-range sector has come, but that’s exactly why there’s a fairly sizeable amount of excitement for the follow-up.

The Nord 6 is shaping up to be a top option for mid-range buyers looking for style, performance and battery life.

Is the OnePlus Nord 6 launching earlier than usual?

Certification leaks suggest the Nord 6 could arrive months earlier than the usual July launch.

When a phone is certified for sale, it usually means that a release is just a few weeks away, and yet the Nord 6 has already been given the green light by the TDRA in the UAE and the SIRIM in Malaysia. This could mean that the Nord 6 is set for a far earlier launch than expected, and could arrive in the first few months of 2026.

Having such an early launch would allow the Nord 6 to leapfrog much of the competition, but we’ll update this section once we have more information available.

Will the Nord 6 cost more than the Nord 5?

The question over how much the OnePlus Nord 6 will cost is a tricky one, largely because the RRP for the Nord range has rarely stayed the same, instead fluctuating from one phone to the next.

For instance, the OnePlus Nord 5 had a starting price of £399/€449 which was actually slightly cheaper than the £429/€499 going rate of the Nord 4.

Given just how rare price decreases are in the current economic climate, it’s very unlikely that the price will drop any further for the OnePlus Nord 6, but if it could stay at £399/€449 then that would help it to remain competitive.

Without any key rumours regarding price, this is all speculation at present, but here are the price tags we’ve seen for previous OnePlus Nord phones:

What’s actually new on the Nord 6?

Spectacular Snapdragon power

Thanks to a recent listing of the OnePlus Nord 6 on the Geekbench database, we now know that the phone will sport the powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset alongside a hearty 12GB RAM to go with it.

That’s the same chipset found within the Poco F7, another mid-range device that really wowed us with its day-to-day performance, and that carried over to gaming, where the phone rarely stumbled, even with demanding 3D titles.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is also found in the Chinese-exclusive OnePlus Turbo 6, which has us thinking that the Nord 6 could just be a reskinned version of that same phone, designed for a Western audience.

An outrageously large battery

No, that’s not a typo, although there is almost certainly going to be a big caveat to go along with it. The aforementioned OnePlus Turbo 6 has hit the scene with an unbelievable 9000mAh silicon-carbon battery, and depending on how much OnePlus wants to carry over to the Nord 6, there’s always a chance that this could be replicated with the upcoming mid-ranger.

The problem is that due to Western regulations, that huge capacity might not see the light of day outside of China.

However, it isn’t hard to imagine OnePlus wanting to do all that it can to still have battery capacity be a defining feature on the Nord 6, so don’t be too surprised if we end up seeing a cell around the 7000mAh mark. There could also be 80W fast charging to go with it.

Next level durability

Here’s another facet that the Nord 6 could pinch from its Turbo cousin – an official IP68 and IP69K rating. These two certifications in tandem would mean that the Nord 6 has high-grade dust and water protection, to the point where it can even withstand water jets.

While this might not be as exciting as a 9000mAh battery, it is a huge win for consumer value as it raises the mid-range bar even further.

With that kind of rating in tow, you won’t have to worry about forking out for a flagship device in order to get top-shelf durability, and there’s the added peace of mind that comes with knowing that your phone is unlikely to fall foul of the elements.
