Comedian Tim Dillon ― part of the online “manosphere” credited with helping Donald Trump return to the White House ― this weekend tore into what he called the “optics” of a recent party held at the president’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
Dillon, one of a number of podcast-world Trump allies who have become increasingly critical of the president, shared footage of performers dancing in period costumes and dog masks at the American Humane Society’s 15th Annual Hero Dog Awards Gala, which took place earlier this month.
“What the fuck is that? What the fuck is that?” Dillon asked.
While stressing he wasn’t prudish and that people are free to dress however they like, Dillon questioned the wisdom of hosting such a lavish event at the president’s home amid a worsening cost-of-living crisis, escalating tensions nationwide tied to immigration enforcement, unrest abroad and rising global instability.
“It just seems like the point of everything is to demoralize you — to the point where it’s not even debatable anymore how insane this is,” he said.
“It’s literally the end of the world,” Dillon added. “I don’t give a fuck what this was for. Who gives a fuck what it was for?”
