Sandy crevices may be unavoidable. But crowds?
It’s easier than you think with just a little digging — no, not in your crevices…
Research, people. Research. That’s what we’re all about.

The Travel Off Path team was stoked to unpack HomeToGo’s latest beach report just in time for one of our sunniest seasons.
While it was jam-packed with 100 beaches to choose from, the obvious focal point this time of year is Florida, never failing to live up to its “Sunshine State” moniker.
But you don’t have to copy and paste someone else’s itinerary where you’re just another face in ungodly throngs of spring breakers and retirees.
Throngs not thongs. Again with the crevices…
These 4 unknown beach towns were named as Florida’s top 2026 getaways:
4) Satellite Beach

Why anyone would choose to live in Florida without a beach in sight is beyond me, but that’s why hordes of Orlandoans flock to Cocoa Beach, one of the closest worthwhile beach towns to escape Disney’s tourist overload, to enjoy a vacation of their own.
That said, rarely do you ever hear of Cocoa’s gorgeous neighbor, Satellite Beach — a small coastal haven of roughly 11,000 residents who are happy to share their Atlantic paradise.
If anything, people tend to pass through Satellite in favor of Melbourne, but we’re here to say it’s time to pump the brakes and hang a U-ey.

Satellite Beach is well worth being your next beach getaway, especially for those who enjoy extra elbow room away from untz-untzing college kids and have a double-digit accommodation budget.
On a 1 – 10 scale, here’s how HomeToGo scored the following categories:
- Affordability: 9.53
- Hidden Gem: 8.75
- Local Secret: 6.30
- Temperature: 9.87
- Visitor Satisfaction: 9.58
3) Butler Beach
St. Augustine is arguably Florida’s dreamiest city. In fact, it oozes so much European charm that sometimes we forget it’s a full-fledged beach destination.

Just south of America’s oldest city, lies Anastasia Island, which is more popular than its unsung neighbor Butler Beach.
With wide sandy beaches calling your name, this laid-back map-dot town has slipped through the cracks for many St. Augustine tourists despite being just a 16-minute drive from downtown.
With cozy bars and eateries and locally owned inns, it’s a far cry from Florida’s typical springtime vacation spots.
One recent Butler Beach patron stated in their Google review, “What is there to say, miles and miles of white sand beautiful open ocean, really stunning. Super relaxing.”

2) Bethune Beach
Bethune Beach is a hidden gem within a hidden gem. If there’s a name within Volusia County you know, it may be New Smyrna Beach, a beautiful coastal oasis that’s been coming up in the travel ranks in recent years.
Other than that, it’s Daytona and crickets.

Bethune Beach isn’t just clinging on to its ‘hidden gem’ status — it embraces it. That’s all part of the appeal here.
Picture uncrowded shores, peaceful waves, and untouched scenery, unlike other Florida hotspots.
If you want to find true bliss while others across Florida have trouble snagging a patch of sand, The Canaveral National Seashore should top your list, but Bethune Beach proper holds rave reviews.
Take it from one of many 5-star reviewers, who said “This is a beautiful beach, pristine coastline, amazing place to walk. I went on a day it was sunny but also mist and fog was coming in – it was still stunning.”
- Affordability: 8.06
- Hidden Gem: 9.65

- Temperature: 9.38
- Visitor Satisfaction: 8.75
1) Saint Joe Beach

Ever heard of Florida’s ‘Forgotten Coast’?
Maybe not. It is after all, forgotten…
But if there is one claim to fame along this sleepy stretch of coastline largely free of tourists, it’s the charming coastal town of Port St. Joe.
This is where you’ll find similarly named Saint Joe Beach, holding an impressive 4.8 Google rating, largely due to its “Old Florida” proximity, gleaming white sand, aquatic life spotting, and one of few places to plop down under the sun without having to squeeze in with strangers.
- Affordability: 9.01
- Hidden Gem: 9.10
- Local Secret: 9.0
- Temperature: 9.39
- Visitor Satisfaction: 9.58
