Two individuals died in a fiery crash on U.S. 287 between Fort Collins and Wyoming on Friday, closing the two-lane freeway for a number of hours, in response to the Colorado State Patrol.

At 6:18 p.m. Friday, the Colorado State Patrol responded to a crash involving a Honda Accord and a Chevrolet Suburban on U.S. 287 at Crimson Mountain Highway. Simply minutes earlier than the crash, a resident had dialed 911 to report the motive force of the Honda as a doable drunken driver, in response to a launch from the Colorado State Patrol.

Investigators report that the Suburban was headed south on U.S. 287 when the Honda veered from the northbound lane into the southbound lane, the discharge states. Attempting to keep away from the crash, the motive force of the Suburban swerved and struck a guardrail earlier than the 2 automobiles crashed head-on.

“Each automobiles grew to become engulfed in flames, and each drivers have been trapped of their automobiles,” the Colorado State Patrol reported.

Each drivers have been pronounced lifeless on the scene. The Larimer County Coroner’s Workplace will launch their names after notifying their households.

The crash closed U.S. 287 in each instructions for a number of hours. The highway reopened simply after 1 a.m. Saturday, in response to info from CDOT.
