A coal mine explosion killed 11 individuals in Shaanxi province in northern China, state media reported Tuesday.
The blast occurred at 8:26 pm on Monday on the Xintai Coal Mine close to the town of Yan’an, state broadcaster CCTV stated, citing the municipal emergency administration bureau.
Some 90 individuals had been within the mine on the time of the explosion, 9 of whom had been trapped inside and had been “discovered with no important indicators” by 9:00 am on Tuesday, based on CCTV.
Two others who made it to the floor “had been critically injured and died after resuscitation efforts failed”, the broadcaster stated.
It went on to say an additional 11 individuals had been “calmly injured” and had been taken to hospital for remedy, including that “their important indicators are steady”.
“The reason for the accident is at the moment underneath investigation,” CCTV stated.
